Enjoy the Arrival

☐ Notice birds, wildlife, and interesting features nearby.
☐ Enjoy the excitement of discovering a new place.
Before Setting Up
☐ Make sure camping is allowed and you know the stay limits if applicable.
☐ Check the ground for soft spots, rocks, or hazards.
☐ Consider wind direction and weather conditions.
☐ Avoid washes, low areas, or places that could flood.
☐ Make sure you have enough room to leave safely if conditions change.
Settle In
☐ Level your vehicle if needed.
☐ Set up power, solar, or Starlink.
☐ Secure pets and let them become familiar with the area.
☐ Put out only what you need for the evening.
☐ Introduce yourself to nearby campers if appropriate, but always respect their privacy.
Safety Before Dark
☐ Identify your route back to the highway or main road.
☐ Note any sharp turns, deep ruts, or obstacles.
☐ Save your location on your phone or GPS.
☐ Check cell signal and emergency communication options.
☐ Make sure flashlights are easy to reach.

☐ Enjoy a walk before dark if conditions are safe.

☐ Confirm batteries, oxygen equipment, CPAP machines, or other medical devices are ready for the night.
